Say leopard prints and it evokes your inner “Pussycat Dolls” version. Since ages, these prints have been synonymous with sexual connotations. Powerful yet dominant, luxurious yet overtly sexual. Why on earth can’t a normal girl harmonize with leopard print with no drama? Rock it with no flash and just a mere personal fashion statement. So, let’s spin a fresh perspective on this coveted fleeting trend and flaunt it like a classic.

  1. Mix two Prints

Don’t fret mixing leopard print with any other print. So what, it is just leopard print and treat it like one. Pairing it with another print relegates it’s whole stereotyped aura to backburner and tick it away for a chic look. Yet, skeptical about this sartorial chasm? Let my styling tips make it easier for you.

My outfit nods fervently to not only mixing of two different animal prints but also fabrics. Faux fur lends it a more luxurious appeal. Thus, I balanced it with simple brown bellies. A black leather bow adds a tough girly image. Mind it, that isn’t an oxymoron.

Note: Prefer small prints over broad ones if you are petite in frame.

Hair and Makeup

The messy hair highlight this avatar and bronze makeup serves as the key. Avoid dark eye shadows as the outfit is gravitating enough.

  • Leopard Print as a Casual Wear

Hey, you can wear leopard prints during day time too. Surprised? Pair a white casual tee with a flared leopard print skirt. Sounds like chalk and cheese? Trust me girl and you won’t regret. Sounds bland and not your style though? Rescue this doubt by accessorizing it with a dainty necklace, quirky earrings and a statement bracelet. Spin a twist over your tee and throw a denim jacket as per your style. Perfect for afternoon rendezvous. What say?

  • Leopard Print for Formal Wear

Don’t mock me for being insensitive towards corporate decorum. Kindly brush aside those norms about bloggers; attending only Coachella and red carpet events. Culture of corporate isn’t up our alley but styling work wear definitely is. A chiffon top paired with a leopard prints trouser spells sophistication. With a statement necklace and classy handbag, you can notch it’s elegance. Still skeptical? Well, bundle up your hair in a sleek bun, opt for a nude make up and snazzy boots. You are on your way to be a showstopper, girl!

  •  Leopard Print, Stripes & Plaids

Gosh! Sounds a mess but let’s be icebreaker for once. Being hesitant for such an overtly eccentric combination is natural. Thus, balancing quirky fashion with sassy is smart mix of combinations. A casual striped tee with a plaids skirt and a leopard print coat; complete next level right?

Perfect for a date, office wear or casual meetings. All rolled in one!

  • Dash of Leopard Print

I completely get it, you aren’t a risk taker in realm of fashion albeit you crave for this trend quite a bit. Fret not! Add a dash of this print, may be not in the form of an outfit but shoes, handbags, scarfs or accessories. Give it a try once!

  • Polka Dots, Leopard Print and Leather Jacket

Voila, Such a cocktail! Let time decide it’s harmful or innocuous. Finally, we can heave a sigh of relief as we can wear polka dots without appearing too girly, leopard print without being too tacky and a biker look without biking at all.

What’s your call about this one?

So, pull out all those relegated pieces of leopard print and style it your way girl. You have held back for too long!

Let’s keep global warming aside! Here is a greater issue to handle; What to wear for Coachella? Okay, I apologize for the sarcasm but indeed a reminder of reality check is imperative as well. Baffled what I am upto? Fret not, this post is for fashion lovers. I might cover my sarcasm someday else. “Coachella”, one of the most popular and hyped thing on planet is a Valley Music and Arts Festival held at California every year. Everyone might be knowing it except few nerds like me but you won’t be aware of the fact, “Why it is called Coachella?”. Gotcha!

Misconstrued from the original spanish term, “Conchilla” referring to the little valley shells, our fave “Coachella festival” was named.

Now, let’s get down to brass tacks of Coachella’s  fashion. Well, I hail from Mumbai, India although fashion is universal; specially heeding to the cranky heat similar both in California and Mumbai. The latter is facing worst. So, going to Coachella or not, this outfit ideas for you!

The signature look of Coachella is “Bohemian Soul”. This fashion aesthetic screams drama and comfort. So, shout out to all the wildflowers; gypsy style is so in this season.

Crochet, flowy gowns, warm and earthy colors resonate with boho chic look. Thus, I opted for a dress with a layering of crochet top to add a punch of gypsy look. Feathers accessories are all the rage and they blended with the outfit perfectly owing to their chirpy hues. Orange earrings contrast the outfit and add a dash of sass within. The striking part of the whole avatar is bandana; a savior from the cranky heat as well as a style statement. Oops! I forgot bad hair day as well! Finally, nod a yes to boots without a doubt!

Keep the makeup subtle except bronze eye shadows. Glittery eye shadows work well over matte owing to earthy nature of the outfit. Choose from a palette of maroon, brown or nude shades for lip color. Personally, I will recommend illuminator of Faces as it bestows  a natural shine.

Summers beckon cheerful hues and comfy fashion. Hailing from tropical areas, scorching heat aggravates us in summers and wearing lighter fabrics keep us going. Billowing dresses are much in vogue over clingy ones and kaftan ticks this box right away. Exuding a sense of grace and sensuality, Kaftans were adopted in early 1960’s. However, the staple is wading its way back in our wardrobe in a more refreshing way.

Wear it with leggings or without, you will definitely resonate with Talitha Getty. Choosing a red kaftan with African prints, I am predisposing towards my inner hippie side. Twirling a beads necklace around my hand, a dainty neck piece, yellow feather earrings and finally, completing the look with snazzy boots, I am ready to frolic in sunshine. Not only the outfit veils away your extra flab but looks sensual and provides comfort at the same time.

Seize a chance to wear Maxi Dresses under the excuse of summer. Not only they give enough space for breeze to float in and out but they spell chic effectively. Be it for Sunday brunch or lunch, Maxi dress will add a quotient of elegance inevitably and no need of extra fuss about it all. Just slip in it, pair it with some accessories, bundle up your hair in a curling mass or let them down, this look is effortless in every way.

Choosing an orange halter neck maxi gown and styling it with an hair accessory and a trendy bracelet, this look resembles a modern fairy tale. Not so girly yet dreamy. And moreover, sassy and comfy.

So, going Coachella or not, this universal outfit ideas work fair enough for summer. Although, which is your favorite? Waiting for your comments!

Heralding the era of retro fashion, Polka Dots had always been the cupid of our sartorial heart. Possessing a soft spot in both our heart and wardrobe, this delicate print has been our crush since decades. Although few may mush over this sugary, frilly print while others may label it with snide remarks. Since 1970’s, it created a stir of drama with Princess Diana flaunting it at races, insanely adorable Dimple Kapadia wearing it in the cult romance, Bobby and delightful Julia Roberts defining cutie in a Polka Dots dress. Oh you also forgot, Frank Sinatra crooning the song, Polka Dots and Moonbeams making this trend all the rage.

As a kid, I always frolicked in a Polka Dots dress associating it with a Minnie Mouse. Well, the hush hush secret is I am completely gaga over it even now. But at times, I balk wearing it to evade certain stereotypes; She is a girl who can perform only Ballad, giggles coquettishly wearing frilly prints and is a total schmaltzy. But hey, what is wrong being cheerful? Why on earth stripes should always win over dots owing to its androgynous nature? Well, a girl can be both powerful and delicate. If you are still clueless to apply it in sartorial language, scroll down.

  • Working Blues Away

Apart from a tea party, these bedazzled dots would have hardly witnessed a place. How about wearing Polka Dots for a corporate meet? You might think I have gone bananas but darling, season changes and so does fashion. Yes, it will be a decorum breaker outfit. So what?

Couple it with a pencil skirt to soften its artful tone. Wearing Chelsea boots instead of stilettos will turn the fashion graph completely. Yes, you will be flaunting corseted curves but definitely, no more working blues.

  • Polka goes Rugged

Say Polka Dots and you will earn the label of girly girl. And if you aren’t, don’t fret to try this trend. Throw a rugged, oversize denim jacket over a Polka Dots dress exuding both your androgynous and feminine side. Cinching a belt will serve an inspiration for the fashion lovers.

How about trying this over a weekend?

  • Jump, Jump, Jumpsuit!

Riling summers beckon a big Yes to Jumpsuits. Give your edgy side a chance with a speckled polka dots jumpsuit. Anyways, summers are all about being comfy.

  • Polka in Grunge style

If bands such as Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl in Jams have always captivated you, grunge is your style, girl. If “Yes, I don’t give a damn” vibe is your vocabulary and your fashion statement talks grunge, trying Polka dots may not even remotely cross your mind. Thus, I decided to juxtapose these polar opposite trends. By bundling away my unkempt hair and donning ripped denim shorts with polka dots blouse within, I waded through these trends without breaking the bank.

But damn, the cutesy girl within me still strike up while posing.

  • Polka Dots Accessories

Common, are you still hesitant about Polka Dots trend? Then, let’s start with baby steps. Welcome this new wardrobe member not in the form of an outfit but accessories. Yes, I am pointing out the savior of our bad hair days; beanies and bandannas. Not only they exude a casual vibe but will enable you to try this trend without any qualms.

Also, a polka dots scarf around your bag or neck is very much in vogue.

  • Summers, sunshine and Yellow

If color is your sartorial anthem, then polka dots celebrate your style. We did have enough of blues, black and greys throughout winter. Now, we crave for more sunshine and warm colors. Sanguine in nature, yellow is the color of summer. And delightfully, polka dots are no more merely in black.

They are going full throttle in white over yellow and its a promise, you won’t look like a bumblebee or a marigold.

  • Millennial Pink

On Wednesdays, we wear Pink. If you nod a yes to it, welcome to the “Mean Girls” fan club. Few may sulk at this phrase but millennial pink is the new black. Polka Dots is embracing pink wholeheartedly and we are loving every bit of it. Too hard to believe? Well, check it by yourself.

  • Polka over Polka

Last season, “Denim over Denim” trend turned amazingly well. So how about “Polka over Polka”? Sounds like a dicey plunge right? But, I dare you to try it once. You may seem like an apostle of this trend owing to all polka attire but you will definitely turn few eyeballs.

  • Polka Dots for Men!

Gone are those days where polka dots were meant merely for girls. This trend is wading tis way in a guy’s wardrobe as well. And before you say, let me clear it; You won’t earn the label of too gay to function. Channel your look with a biker jacket and be the showstopper.

  • Dare to Bare

“Fashion favors the Bold” and if this defines your social anthropology, what are you waiting for? Sheer transparent fabrics are ruling both runways and street wear. A perfect outfit to dazzle in for a Saturday night. So don’t think much and just groove to the music, baby!

So, Yayy or Nay for Polka?

Ok, admit it girls, we all grouse about not having enough clothes to wear albeit the wardrobe reflects heaps of clothes piled up haphazardly (at least in my case as I am very disorganized). Yes, we aren’t familiar with the geographical landscape of our wardrobe as we never know what is the pandora box all about. But, hell yeah shopping works on impulses. So, I don’t blame you. Our money is hanging in our closet just like Carrie Bradshaw yet why are we clueless about what to wear? So, the rescue don’t lie in shopping everytime (well, most of us can’t afford that) but investing in Basic Essentials is a sagacious option.

Once you have the basic staples, all you need is your essence of style to couple them differently. And voila, you are ready to paint the town red!

Pastel hue top

Spring beckons pastel hues to exude your effervescence and 2018 trends are giving a big hi-five to them. Not only pastel hues narrate fashion tales gloriously but it lends an edge to your style. Be it office wear or a lazy Sunday afternoon, this hue notches all the sartorial points.

Heat is riling up and you need to breathe. Thus, this halter neck, pastel hue crop top is my latest obsession. Worn on denim pants, it just spells sassy and comfy in one go.

Now, wearing a crop top to office can earn many arched eyebrows. So, coupling it with a high waist pencil skirt and a trendy vest will seem you like a showstopper at office. Glasses just added more edge and pastel hue clutch notched the whole OOTD 10/10.

  • Denim Jacket

Be a fashion blogger or not, our wardrobe always has this key item; a Denim Jacket. An all rounder for all season, denim jacket owns my heart.  Insouciance, comfort and functional utility is inherent within it and being trendy has been its USP forever. Thank you Levi Strauss, the Denim Dad for gifting us the most chicest piece ever in fashion history. But, he threw the gauntlet on us for styling it in an eccentric way.

  1. Denim on Denim

Denim on denim trend is deluging the internet and we have no shadow of doubt about this insanely amazing trend. Previously, we were always intimidated to try double denim trend but hey, fashion is meant to break all rules right? Although if fear of fashion blunders still hovers around you, remember few key points.

Pic Courtesy: Pintrest

  • Go for the same wash or weight of denims all over. Striking contrast between the two can seem trying too hard on your fashion sense.
  • Go for distressed as ripped jeans is dominating the streetwear luxuriously.
  • If you are on heavier side, go for dark colors for bottom as it creates a slimming effect and lighter shade for top accentuating your assets

B)  Unconventional ways of wearing a Jacket

Meh! If you are wearing a denim jacket akin to how we are supposed to wear one. Wake up your inner fashionista from this deep slumber. Trends are harking your personal style. Yes, jackets are meant to lend you a relaxed vibe. So, time to see variations in it.

Wearing it but not wearing it

How about just pulling it over on one shoulder

Oversize is the latest trend, baby!

Quirky but Sassy

Why always Blue?

  • Pencil Skirt

If you languish at fashion, you will associate pencil skirts with formal wear. And, formal wear isn’t your taste then pencil skirt will never own its place in your wardrobe. But ignoring it merely because of its stereotyped association is unfair and you are missing one of the latest trends unfortunately. So, give this piece a chance and widen your fashion horizons about styling it.

Polka Dots with Pencil Skirt

Polka augurs Retro and Retro harks Polka. If you are 80’s fashion lover, you will gaga over polka dots and definitely, I am. Fixing a date of polka dots blouse with pencil skirt is marrying a chalk and cheese. But hell yeah, opposites attract and they make a sizzling pair.

See it by yourself.

So, be an office going or not, nod a yes to pencil skirts henceforth.

  •  Casual yet Chic

The word of the millennium is “Goals” and we are bombarded constantly to match up with them. So hell yeah, we can’t be expected to dress up everyday like walking on runways. Norm core is our favorite and it is roaring amazingly. So, let us find the sweet spot between casual and chic with a comfy sassy top.

This grey peekaboo top coupled with skinny jeans and boots is an absolutely all rounder.

  • Sequins

Sequins have always been the pixie dust of our wardrobe and their intricate work make head turns undoubtedly. You are gaga over embellishments if you are the disco 70’s kid. But, if subtlety is your key, then aren’t sequins for you? Meh! Grow up.

It’s the era to wear sequins during day time and transform it in athleisure, semi formal, party wear or options galore.

Choice is yours but sequins are must!

  • Button down shirt

Undoubtedly, a button down shirt is the savior from fashion disasters. Pair it with leggings, shorts, skirt, jeans or just a shirt dress, it will always be showstopper. Invest in a good quality button down shirt which abides by your body shape. Being a foundation of prospective styles, a button down shirt is an absolute must.

  • Jumpsuit

If you wanna lend an edge to your sartorial sense, zip up in a jumpsuit baby! Pair it with a cold shoulder top, baseball cap, cool sneakers and gear up for a weekend getaway. An outfit which swallows sexism and eschew all rules of fashion, jumpsuit cheers out loud! Thank you Florentine Thayat for inventing it and Coco Chanel and Bianca Jagger for turning it all the rage.

I) Leather Jacket

You don’t need a blogger to advise you about owning a leather jacket. But, definitely you need one pertaining styling it quirky.

  • Leather jacket and tulles skirt is befriending a romantic and rocking personality. Yes, opposites attract. So, all we need is to give a chance

Pair it with a dress heads for pretty with punk rolled in one. Feminine yet edgy. Sassy yet classy. What more can you expect?

  • Leopard Print

This electric trend is back with a bang and leopard print is roaring like a champion. Even if you are not fond of this trend, having a leopard print in any form; be it dress, skirt, blouse or even a scarf will make you a showstopper.

Let your wardrobe embrace this fierce trend and pull it off like a pro.

  •  Plaids

Say plaids and you will be relegated to 90’s kid category. Casual, grunge yet you will never earn the epithet, “Elegant”. Probably, you may even be called frumpy albeit plaids are the hottest trend of 2018. Surprised? Put a spin of your style over this trend and it weaves itself immediately into an OOTD apt for study session, office wear or even a date. Yes, so what is the magical trick?

Style up plaids with accessories; be it belts, hats or dainty necklaces

Mix plaids with other prints. The unprecedented marriage of a leopard print overcoat with plaids will be a basic and savage combination.

Throw a chic blazer over a plaids pants and hit up the office or an afternoon rendezvous.
