The eternal relationship between fashion and girls have been since decades and it seems boundless. Fashion had always been our forte and we reign over it like a queen. But, as much you love fashion, do you know fashion? Apart from your sartorial style, how well acknowledged are you with fashion vocabulary? Recently, I came…
Winters had never been daunting for me as practically I hail from tropical region. 18 to 20 degree celsius can’t be even remotely termed as winter as per ice kissed regions. Hence, I always languished at winter fashion and kept it deliciously audacious. Be it Skirts, Sheath dress or Shorts, I never refrained from wearing them in December or January also as practically, its not at all cold over here. Although, my recent visit to Kashmir dawned upon me that surviving winter is crucial over fashion. The polar white areas will compel you only to eat and shroud yourself in piles of layering. So, what about fashion?
Well, What’s That?
Mostly, you will deny fashion glory in winter until you find the sweet spot between comfort and fashion. This chilly weather beckons us to flirt with some adorable outfits over frumpy ones. So, what is the quandary all about?
Let’s, hit it up baby
Befriend this fierce combination in this pervasive winter as Santa also loves the color, Red. While everyone is narrating their fashion tales with pastels colors, be an ice breaker. Planning a sartorial escape to 70’s trends, these retro pants are definitely stealing the show. Bold red and black with entangled details summons all up. Still, mixed inhibitions about this bright hue and edgy look? Well, couple it with a black and white overcoat and muted shade beanie.
Probably, you may transcend few fashion norms with it. But, undoubtedly, it screams out sinfully good looking ootd. Guess, you should just paint the white town red now.
If ‘Pheren’ sounds greek to you, no qualms about it. Have been there and earned arched eyebrows from the locals of Kashmir. Your eyeballs will be gravitated by this authentic outfit of Kashmiris, Phiran, a loose overflowing garment made of sheep wool and cotton. Must say, it’s extremely warm and cozy. But, how to relate this to fashion, right?
Well, opt for gingham, checks or tartans in them as plaids are all the rage in winter. Honestly, I didn’t buy this outfit but just slipped in it by misplacing from my driver’s seat.
Faux fur turned my obsession with Carrie Bradshaw running over NYC streets in her famous beige faux fur coat. Besides, exuding a royal look, faux furs balances the glamour as well as cruelty-free fashion in tandem. This sparkling black faux fur coat with brown and beige shade collar has been my latest favorite piece.
Not only it provides enough rescue from cold but is a fashion statement itself. Pair it with jeans, skirt or a dress, choice is yours.
The brightest badge of insouciance melded with chicness is a trendy Leather Jacket. You don’t require me to advise you about it. Although, avoid jacket with too many zips, playing a blight on its sassy nature. Take a break from usual colors like black, brown, tan and add a pop of bright shade to your gloomy winter fashion.
How about a bold maroon shade coupled with an edgy sparkling top? Let sparkle and your heartfelt smile do the magic.
Body con with Leggings
Oh yeah, I will earn many arched eyebrows if I advise for a body con in winters. But, don’t you deny that you miss them badly in those months of freezing cold. Why on earth can’t we flaunt our curves in winters as well? Layering, Layering, Layering; Give me a Break. Sadly, we can’t control weather but definitely our style.
And, body con with leggings is not only the most feasible option but it is quite trendy as well. Moreover, the comfort factor of leggings garner it with extra brownie points over pants.
So, bye bye frumpy clothes. Now, winter is all about snow, celebrations and most importantly, sassy style.
Do you remember how you used to bounce fervently saying, I wanna become an astronaut or an actor or president of the country or just a prince or a princess? And eventually, you got convinced that sky is merely blue, you can travel only after you get settled, stories don’t always have happy endings, precious things in life demands a long wait and probably you will never wear a tiara in your entire life.
Yes, we succumb to the world’s greatest lie. “You cant control your life. Your circumstances rule them and your destiny decides everything for you”. And, so we mandatory finish a novel which we started, trudge a precarious relationship, abide by responsibilities before happiness and forget most important thing, “Our Dreams”. Not that I am of opinion to abandon everything all at once. But, why not quit eventually. All those things and people which soak away your happiness.
While, I was at Kashmir, everyday, this man turned fervently at Dal Lake even at -4 degree temperature. That one dream which compels him to endure this harsh reality, one dream which keeps him alive, one dream for which he will quit everything is a visit to Mecca.
So, dream my friend. Dream. See that dream. Live that dream. And guess what, you may never know where you can find on the way 😊
Be it twinkling lights, streets cladded with snow, air imbued with aroma of freshly baked cookies and cakes, Christmas trees adorned with cute little things, stockings hanging in living rooms, those melodious choirs or turkey dinner with family, gifts secretly keep under Xmas tree and shouts of Merry Christmas; honestly, there is not one single thing you can deny to love about Christmas and Winters. And most importantly, it’s the time of the year where you have to dress up to nines. Literally, fashion can be seen bubbling in every nook and corner of the town. But before essaying outfit ideas for the occasion, let’s talk about the festival itself.
All this time, I celebrated Christmas on 25th December owing the day to be as Jesus’s birthday. But, after a careful analysis lately, I landed at a mind boggling fact; Jesus was never born on this day. Sounds Greek to you? Honestly, the exact birth of Jesus is not mentioned in the Bible. Few claimed it to be the month of spring as shepherds tending flock of sheep heard the news of this angel’s birth. Had it been winter, sheeps would have been corralled. Another reference of the appearance of “Star of Bethlehem” augurs the season of autumn or spring. Also, Mary and Joseph visit to Bethlehem would have not been on the spur of the moment. Few traces signify it to be the time of “Jewish festival of Passover” in spring.
So, why does the celebration of Christmas on 25th December prevails ?
It is deemed that the church officials wanted the date to coincide with the existing pagan festivals such as Saturnalia, an ancient Roman festival in honor of the god Saturn, Mithraism, worship of the Persian God of Light, WInter Solstice and few others. As Christianity was slowly embraced back then owing to predisposition towards paganism, 25th December was deemed to be the birth of Jesus. Well, in some parts of the world, such as Ethiopia, Russia, Serbia, Greece and few others, Christmas is not celebrated on 25th December but 6th January. Owing to the discrepancies between Gregorian calendar and Julian Calendar, the traditions differ as well.
P.S: 25th December is not only Christmas but also marks the celebration of various cultures.
Anyways, Merry Christmas Guys. Happy Holidays !
December, a month of dove grey sky and streets laced by snow not only beckons festive mood but also rides a wave of sweet nostalgia. You can never elude from its undeniable allure as it ticks all the happiness in one swoop. Be it Snow, Christmas or New Year Eve, December give a big out shout out to celebration. Undoubtedly, a woman’s expression of happiness is through fashion and I ain’t no exception. While my sartorial choices were running wild, I fervently decided to conjure an outfit faithful to all fronts; be it trends, comfort or festivity.
Starting my countdown to chic, I landed up at a sequin top. Not only did it hit the sweet spot between edgy and glamorous but also entailed an enticing pattern. Agreed, Black is a deliciously audacious color but I wished to risk my sartorial knowledge this time.
Rich shades of shades of maroon can create enough drama for your outfit unless you know how to play with textures and proportions. The fundamentals of winter fashion calls for layering and nothing can shake the chill in style except a leather jacket. Keeping the color in same family of both top and jacket, I just experimented with shades of my gloves. Contrasting the rich dark shade with muted ones, it created the whole balance aesthetically well. Obviously, there is no substitute for a black jeans for skinny effect although varying depths of blue can also be your resort.
This season nods to accessories impressively although demands it to be worn in an eccentric way. How about tying a bandanna on your head instead of wrapping the scarf around your neck. No doubt, this scarf resonates with Gryffindor house colors vaguely but anyways, it spells chic. Boots or sneakers can add rest of the charm.
You won’t be overdressed or under dressed with this OOTD as it has both stylish and comfy ingredients wrapped up in one. Be it a party at a disco, house party or a small gathering, this is the best piece I invested in this season.
- Celebrations and sequins are synonymous. But, opt for a sequin top instead of a dress which evades the outfit to be worn only for a single occasion.
- Black is sexy but avoid it and explore new shades this season.
- Accessories are mandatory but tweak with their usual ways’
- Abide by one color family rule although play with textures.
- Keep the makeup minimal which balances with the sequins.
Waiting for yours!
